People start individual psychotherapy for a myriad of reason, with different symptoms and problems. The first few sessions involve you and I working collaboratively to identify what and how psychotherapy can be helpful to you. I am active in the therapeutic process, and work compassionately to help you understand the root causes of your discomfort or dilemma.
Therapy often builds on the momentum of previous sessions. Because of this, it is most helpful when people attend therapy regularly.
My job is to work myself out of a job! Therapy is done when you feel like you’ve gotten out of it what you need, and there isn’t further work that you are interested in doing with your therapist. This could be a few weeks, months, or years after your first session. It depends on the person and the symptoms
